Naji Al-Ali once stated:
“Since my childhood, I’ve been influenced by the figure of Jesus, carrying a cross within me, and I have performed Hajj twice. Jesus represents a value of redemption to me, and I’ve drawn him many times, not because he was Palestinian, but because he was persecuted and defeated, yet a prophet. I depict him as a southern Lebanese or as a Palestinian from the refugee camps.”
1. Jesus is Palestinian. Yearning for return, Jesus calls out to his home, Bethlehem, crucified under occupation (April 1982).
2. Christ, the symbol of endless suffering, strikes back against the zionist occupier. “The intifada of the West Bank and Gaza,” created in December 1986 before the outbreak of the first intifada.
3. Jesus Christ, despite crucifixion, throws a stone in support of the intifada (April 1982).
4. Fatima, Naji’s symbol of return, breaks out of the crucifix with the occupied Palestinian Christian city of Al-Nasira written above.
5. Duccio’s Madonna and the Child reinterpreted; the crescent moon juxtaposed next to the cross signifies equal suffering of Palestinian Christians and Muslims.
I also searched Red Nation and Naji Al-Ali and Handala. My research leads to connecting all the dots.
# < red nation & palestine >. This is a Marxist group promoting "oppressed people vs the oppressors" (WASPs and Israelis). Their slogan is Indigenous Solidarity with Palestine.
# I believe that different leftist and Arab groups share a lot of site information. These five cartoons are in Red Nation. RN also has a new announcement for March on Washington for Gaza. Saturday January 13 on the National Mall. Also with Code Pink.
# Handala is a prominent national symbol and personification of the Palestinian people. The character was created by political cartoonist Naji al-Ali. Handala became the signature of Naji al-Ali's cartoons and remains an iconic symbol of Palestinian identity and defiance.
# On the CCJP site, scroll two thirds of the way down. To a collection of five photos +3; making a total of eight. All photos have white and yellow printing. All have a Christian/Jesus message. The author of this collection is playing an Anti-Semitic guilt trip on everyone who reads this. More hateful than the above cartoons.
The cartoons are symbolic. This Text is viscious. This collection destroys their arguement that Anti-Zionism is not the same as Anti-Semitism. They are retelling the story; The Jews didn't kill Christ. The Zionists did.
# Further down on the CCJP site is an individual photo of the Infant Jesus wrapped in keffiyah. With the caption, Christ in the Rubble.
# The CCJP site still has the videos of Saturday's car caravan. Plus they made one new composite video of all the stops they made. With editing to make it more interesting to view. Original videos were repetitious with cars on the expressway, and people shouting slogans.
With the Dick Durbin event, they improved the sound quality of him meeting with the Arabs, and added Text to him trying to answer their charges. They are still motor mouths.
