Correlation is not causation.
It's more than likely that people who answer US surveys are depressed.
You must have a dreadful life if that's what you do w/your time.
Also
1. Do these people identify as anti-racist or we judging their views?
2. How do we know they're leftist?
"Anti-racist" isn't mentioned.
This is a bizarre question to judge if someone is anti-racist, as it doesn't directly ask them that.
It asked them if they believe women / minorities have no hope because of sexism / racism.
What does that have to do with supporting racism or not?
It's almost like this is being presented from a far left perspective that "the left are antiracist & the right wing are all racists" like a woke NPC.
Racial views exist independent of the left-right spectrum.
There are Antiracists on the right & racists on the left & vice versa.
In fact, it's a bit of a gaslight because if you answer yes to a question asking you if you believe minorities have no hope for success because of racism, that's actually a racist answer. The bigotry of low expectations is still bigotry.
Also the demographics may be skewing the numbers a bit.
They respondents were 45% White and 54% nonwhite.
The results don't separate by race for the responses, only by age, even though racial background is going to influence answers to questions about race, maybe moreso than age.
Another concern is that Hispanic is a tricky categorization because some people may be identifying as both white and Hispanic. Further, there may be people who identify as white or would be identified as white by others who are actually Hispanic, like Nick Fuentes.
The other issue is the political self-identification.
As you may have noticed on xtwitter, some people identify their own political beliefs incorrectly.
They may think themselves right because their community is far left.
In another community that person might be considered left.
I think the only really telling chart on here (even though it includes self-identification) is the chart on depression which shows that the younger people experience more depression.
Well, we have microplastics in water now & since 1989 we've been unable to sue vaccine companies.
I'm not saying that leftists don't have mental illness issues in their community, most of them have confirmed openly that they do.
However, studies like this presented as supposedly showing that leftists are depressed antiracists are simply red herrings.
Furthermore I don't really like the subtle implication that people on the right who suffer from depression are somehow "like Leftists".
Also, I believe most mental illness on the extreme left are disorders more severe & unusual than standard depression.
